Congress recently enacted the Corporate Transparency Act, which went into effect January 1, 2024. The statute requires most entities, such as corporations, limited partnerships and LLCs, to register along with information identifying their beneficial owners. Registration for entities formed prior to January 1, 2024 is due by December 31, 2024. Also note there are penalties associated with the failure to timely register.
